Sergeant Robert L. Bonzon, DSN 0212, was originally hired as a civilian for the Communications Division on 01/07/1954. On 12/01/1954 he resigned from the department and entered the United States Coast Guard. He served in the Coast Guard until 01/01/1954. On 11/01/1955 he was re-hired by the department and worked in the Records Division until he received his commission on 02/03/1958 and entered the academy. After the academy he served in the following districts and divisions. They were the 10Th, 6Th, Mobile Reserve Section, Internal Affairs Division, 7Th, Detail Pool, Robbery Section, and the 8Th District. On 08/26/1968 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was transferred to the 7Th District and also had other assignments in the 7Th, 8Th, 6Th, Field & Evaluation Section, Bureau of Administration and finally the 1St District. During his career he was awarded 5 Chief's Letter's of Commendation on 06/01/1961, 04/01/1964, 10/01/1967, 12/01/1970, and 02/01/1975 for police work above the call of duty. Sergeant Bonzon retired on 11/19/1990 with 36.87 years of faithful and dedicated service to the department.
