Mary died, date or place unknown, and Elisha remarried to Nancy Van Sickle (nee Calentine). The 1890 U.S. Veterans Census listed Elisha as residing in the city of Athens, Athens County, Ohio.
Since he is buried at the Ohio Veterans Home, December 27, 1896, he probably died there, Decmeber 27, 1896. At that time the O.V.H. was called the Ohio Soldiers' and Sailors' Home.
