Boy, 9, Accidentally Killed
Rodney Walker, 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Walker of Neihart, was shot and instantly killed Saturday evening at 6 o'clock when an antiquated shotgun held by a companion, Merle White, aged 8, was accidentally discharged. The accident occurred in the attic of a vacant building located near the houses of the boys.
Rodney, who was better known in Neihart as Tiny, and the White boy, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William White, late Saturday afternoon left their homes and went to the vacant building in which they were accustomed to playing. The two boys ascended to the attic, where they discovered an old shotgun, an equally old rifle, and an ancient revolver. The discovery of the firearms resulted in the boys deciding to play war, and a second discovery of some old shotgun shells was subsequently made by the Walker boy. Two of the shells were inserted in the shotgun, which has been ascertained to have had a defective hammer. Placing the old shotgun on a discarded bed in the room, the White boy, it is stated by the deputy sheriff, pointed the gun at Rodney. As he handled the gun, the hammer descended causing the gun to discharge. The Walker boy was struck in the face by the shot.
The body was brought to Great Falls early Sunday morning and is at the W. H. George chapel. In addition to his parents, the boy is survived by several brothers.

17 Aug 1926--Funeral services for Rodney Walker will be held from the Methodist church at Neihart today at 2 p.m. Interment in Neihart cemetery.
