He was born July 11, 1941 to Milford and Kathleen Buros. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Westby.
He married Marlene Hanson on September 2, 1967 at Vang Church in rural Westby.
Bob loved his rendezvous adventures. He became interested in rendezvous camping 25 years ago and involved his entire family. His rendezvous friends also became like family. He was known to his rendezvous family as “Lone Wolf.” Bob and Tom Garvis spent many weekends together for the past several years watching out for one another. He was a co-founder of the local Coon Valley Rendezvous.
He recently began riding the wagon trains with Maddi, Baylee, and Bob Quackenbush and loved to watch “his” ponies. He had plans to go on an extended wagon train trip this summer.
He loved family cookouts and camping, basically anything that got the family together. Bob enjoyed feeding others and made the best BBQ chicken around.
Bob’s goals for treatment were to meet his new granddaughter, Sophie Mae (Shane and Sara) coming in five weeks and see Lisa graduate with her Masters Degree in Nursing in May.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene; three sons: Randi Buros (Sierra Vista, AZ), Shane (Sara) Buros (Caledonia, MN), Ron Buros (Viroqua, WI); and one daughter, Lisa Trott (Bill) (Westby, WI); his “adopted” son, Eddy Norton (La Crosse, WI); and special nephew, Nathan (Misty) Hanson. 10 grandchildren: Jarret Buros, Shayla Buros, Ryan, Kyler, and Cassidy Buros, Maddison Buros-Pulham, Baylee Buros, Garrett Trott, Gage Pulham, and Ariyahna Trott.
He is also survived by three sisters: Shirley Hanson, Carol Moore, and Donna Hanson; in-laws: Iris Hanson, Joan Hanson, Gloria (Garland) Kolbo, Rolland (Ellen) Hanson, Douglas (Aline) Hanson, Diane Wang (Kurt Mills), Michael (Rosa) Hanson, Karen Hanson, Kristine Hanson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Kathleen Buros; his son, Conrad Lee Buros; brothers-in-law: David Hanson, Allen Moore, Carl Hanson, Roger Hanson, Grant Hanson, Larry Harris, Ron Tracy; nephews: Todd Harris, Dustin Wang, Terry Hanson; and niece, Rita Oliphant.
The family would like to extend our most heartfelt gratitude to Gundersen Lutheran Oncology Department, Palliative Care Department, Hospice Care Department and all the nurses and providers that assisted Bob in his treatment, with special thanks to Dr. Kurt Oettel, Dr. Pat Conway, and Carrie Lapham, NP. More special thanks to Angela Strass, RN and Stephanie Lee, RN as Bob’s Hospice nurses showing Bob and his family great compassion in this journey.
Another special thanks to Pastor Dan and Pastor Julie for their support and prayer throughout the past few weeks. The family would also like to thank everyone for all the thoughts, prayers, and support.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Daniel Wollman will officiate with burial to follow in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from noon till the time of service at 1.
