Ruth M. Herbst, age 95, resident of Brainerd, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society - Woodland. Ruth was born on September 26, 1920 in Sauk Centre, Minn. to Conrad and Theresa (Dinkel) Botz. Ruth taught fourth grade at St. Francis Elementary School and was a member of St. Jude's Guild at St. Francis.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Mary) Herbst, Jeanne Zemple, Larry (Barb) Herbst, Pam (Steven) Nelson and Teri (Mic) King; 12-grandchildren; 23- great grandchildren; brother, Conrad (Jeanne) Botz; 2-sisters-in-law, Irene and Terry; and her nieces and nephews.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Basil; 2-sisters, 5-brothers, and her son-in-law, Gene Zemple.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Blake Rozier officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue the hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Duelm, Minnesota.
