U.S. Congressman. Born the grandson of U.S. Continental Congressman French Strother, he attended St. Louis University Missouri, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Washington, Virginia. Entering politics, he was a member of the Virginia State House of Delegates (1840-51). In 1851, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second Congress, serving until 1853. Defeated for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death.
