Martha Alice Hiatt Blackburn, who resided in Jamieson, Oregon for 76 years, passed away in her home on February 21st, at the age of 92. Alice was born in 1923, in Aberdeen, Idaho to Joel Walter Hiatt and Clara Matilda Keele Hiatt. Alice was the 7th Child in a family of 14 children.

The family moved from Aberdeen, Idaho to Vale in 1934. Alice met Foy Taylor Blackburn at a church dance in Vale, Oregon. They Married January 3rd, 1940, in the Salt Lake City, L.D.S Temple. Foy and Alice settled in Jamieson, Oregon where they farmed and raised nine children, and were foster parents for 27 years to many, many children. Alice is survived by her brother Neil, (Myrtle), Hiatt, sister Avis (Al) Taylor, sisters-in- law Donna Hiatt, Carol Hiatt, Della Blackburn and brother-in-law Thor Honsvick. She is also survived by her children Del (Bernadean) Blackburn, Rae Summers, Beth ( Bryce) Jorgensen, Alan ( Stephanie) Blackburn, Trina ( Richard) Bohman, Lyle (Lynette) Blackburn, Mary Ann (Royce) Herbst, Mark ( Kym) Blackburn and Michael Shaun Blackburn. She has 50 Grandchildren and 63 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Foy, her parents, brothers Clifton Hiatt, Cliff, Hiatt, Bruce (Mona) Hiatt, Sid Hiatt and sisters, Mildred ( Herbert White) Elaine (Frank) Gunderstrup, Fern (Glen) Murdock. Bernice (Bill) Simpson, Leona ( Frank) Wolfe, May Honsvick, Belva Hiatt, sister-in-law Luzetta ( Cryil Fuhriman) and brothers-in-law Allen Blackburn, Evan (Vivian )Blackburn, Val Blackburn, Jim Blackburn, and grandson Jared Foy Jorgensen, and great-granddaughter Autumn Marie Howard.

Alice had a great sense of humor, capturing life with witty, one liners. She was full of spunk, and wisdom. The branding crew will miss her wonderful dinners. Her heart and home was always open to all who entered.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 27, 2016 at the Vale LDS Church, 135 Yakima St. S, Vale Oregon 97918. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to funeral services beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Vale, Oregon.
