Frank was born to the late Frank and Amanda (Hempel) Grundman in St. Cloud. He was the third of six children and the first son. After graduating from Cathedral High School, he attended St. Johns University. He served in the Army as a domestic flight pilot during WWII. Upon returning from service, he completed his business degree at the University of Minnesota (1948). Frank married Dolores H. Reh on June 5, 1950 and had five daughters. Frank lived a full and active life; committing himself to his family, business, faith and community. Frank began his career as a salesman for International Harvester and then bought a company that became St. Cloud Window, Inc. which he successfully ran until his retirement in the early 90s. Frank was a believer in the Dale Carnegie sales training and was an instructor for many years. Frank was a member of the Exchange Club and Sertoma Club. Frank was recognized numerous times over the years for his service; most notably the Bishops Medal from the St. Cloud Catholic Diocese and the Walter Reger Distinguished Alumnus award from St. Johns University. Frank also served on several boards: Catholic Charities, as president from 1981-1985, Society of the Homeless Orphan, and St. Cloud Key Row Housing. He was an avid supporter of the University of St. Johns and College of St. Benedicts and participated on many committees. He loved spending time with his family, being at the "lake", wintering in Palm Springs, playing tennis and attending St. Johns football games.
