Canton-Brenda Brown Messer-43, of 98 Sugar Cove Estates of the Cruso Community, died Monday, October 21, 2002 at Haywood Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a daughter of Everett W. Brown of Canton and the late Mary Leatherwood Brown. She was a member of East Fork Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 22 years, James R. Messer, one daughter, Jamie Iliok Inman of Canton, one son, Thad Everett Messer of Canton, one sister, Mary Leona Brown of Canton, four brothers, Charlie Brown of Florida, Doyle Brown of Canton, Fred Brown of Harrisburg, NC and Billy Brown of Clover, SC, one granddaughter, Christina Ineva Messer and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2002 at East Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Pruett and Reverend O. J. Skidmore officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wells Funeral Homes of Canton. At other times, the family will be at Brenda's residence.
