Dorothy Ruth Wammack Buice, 78, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006, in Garland, Texas. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2006, in the Garden Room Chapel at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, with David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Dorothy was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Sarah Ettie Helm Wammack and Robert Lee Wammack. She married Rayburn Lowell Buice on May 30, 1947, in Waco, and worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She also played on their softball team. After she raised her family she worked for Garland ISD as a reading and library aide. She created beautiful ceramic works and loved cats. Everyone enjoyed her sense of humor. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Garland.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and brother, Sidney Helm Wammack.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Deborah Buice, of Itasca, and Lisa Buice, of Garland; sister, Juanita Burnham, of Waco; brother, Robert Floyd Wammack and wife, Catherine, of McKinney; numerous nieces and nephews, including Barbara Burnham Grusendorf, of China Spring, and Beverly Burnham Gasson, of Scottsdale, Ariz., who maintained a long and special relationship with their Aunt Dot; and dear, loyal friends, Lloyd and Jean Dillon, of Garland.
