Jewell Yvonne Billings, 95, of Bowling Green died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010 at her home.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m., Saturday at Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Chris Gamm officiating. Burial was in Noix Creek Cemetery.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m,. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 8, 1915 in Batchtown, Ill.., the daughter of Thomas A. and Katharen Mager.

She married Dannie Glenn Billings on March 25, 1936. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Eugene Billings of Bowling Green; one daughter, Margaret Elaine Smith and husband, Charles of Troy; one grandson, Paul F. Smith; two great-grandchildren, Jared Smith and Ryan Smith; one brother, Merle Blackwell of Forest City, Ill.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one son, Paul E. Billings; her parents, two brothers, Thomas Blackwell and Ralph Blackwell and one sister, Viola White.

She grew up in Calhoun County, Ill., then moved to Missouri where she lived in the Vera community the rest of her life. She had worked at Stark Bros. as a file clerk, Michael's Restaurant and Schroeder Hardware. She had been a member of Mother's Study Club, Hill and Hollow Club, American Legion Auxiliary and Nightingale Chapter 117 of Louisiana. She had also been a leader of 4-H and PTA and had been active in Vera Community Center. Her hobbies included embroidery, quilting, crocheting and reading.

Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Gamm, Vernon Gamm, Jim Weatherly, Jimmy Weatherly, Fred Gamm and Jerry Gamm. Honorary pallbearers were Rod Blackwell, Keith Blackwell, Gaylord White, Gentry MacMahill, Harry Patrick, Bob Blackwell, Harold Francis, Duane Beatty and Carson Weatherly.

Memorials may be made to Vera Community Center, American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 370 (Louisiana) or Noix Creek Cemetery.
