Funeral services for James Allen Cheatham will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Rev. Matt Cate and Rev. Gabriel McCormick officiating. Interment will follow at Columbia Cemetery in Waldo, Arkansas with graveside services at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Allen was born April 11, 1936 in Village, Arkansas and entered into rest February 20, 2016 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Allen was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, retired Journeyman Electrician Local # 194, Masonic Lodge # 51, and a former Shriner. He loved wood working, but most of all he loved his family. One of Allen’s favorite sayings was “Today’s been a good day.”

He was preceded in death by his parents Dufer and Ruby Cheatham, siblings, Bill, Robert, and Margie Nell, and great-grandchildren Faith, Hope, David and Addison.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Janet Terrell Cheatham, son Dennis Allen and Donna Cheatham, daughters; Veronica Jan and Mike Walsh, Mary Donna and Carl Teer, Sandra Lynette and Steve Davis, Landra Annette and Bruce LeBlanc, and Janice Renia and Steve Walker, brothers; Gary and Lucille Cheatham and Raymond and Barbara Cheatham, twenty grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ryan Walsh, Erin Walsh, Tommy Cheatham, Matthew LeBlanc, James Cheatham, Andrew Cheatham, Joseph Davis, and Joshua Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be his Mason brothers.
