MRS. ALFRED BAKER
Miss Harriett Koontz was born in the State of Ohio, March 1832, moved with her family to Indiana when quite young. After living there for a short time she with her parents came to this state and was married to Alfred Baker in 1855. To this union were born eight children, 5 girls and 3 boys. One girl died in infancy, three more after reaching womanhood passed away and on April 4, Sister Baker passed peacefully over to join them on the other shore. She professed faith in Christ in 1868 and united with the M. E. Church of which she lived a consistent member and a heartbroken companion whose greatest joy was to administer to her every need, also four children and one sister with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
Her funeral was conducted by Rev. Buchanan of Wayne City, assisted by the writer after which the remains were laid to rest in the Cincinnati Cemetery by her children to await the coming of her own.
