Oberton Funeral Held Last Tuesday

Funeral services for Byron Oberton, who died July 30, were held Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 2, at the Eyler Funeral home in Clarion. Mr. Oberton passed away in Eagle Grove at the age of 81.

He was born January 25, 1868, on a farm near Galt. As a young man he worked as a carpenter in Dows, beginning about 1881. He moved to Clarion in 1892 and for 22 years worked here as a stone mason. Some of the structures he worked on were the Crowe, Crawford and Kinson buildings. He also worked on various residences here. Mr. Oberton was in business for 20 years at one location, running a feed and livery stable. In later years he did tree trimming.

He was united in marriage to Lylia May Corwin October 25, 1897. To this union one child was born, a daughter, Nina E. now Mrs. Earl Corwin of Grand Junction.

Other relatives included two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Mitchell of Sheridan, Ohio and Mrs. Catherine Shreves of Eagle Grove, and one brother, William Oberton of Lisbon.

Burial was at the Evergreen cemetery.
