A memorial service for Mary Luce Moreland 80, of Tyler, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 in the chapel of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Powell officiating. Mary was born September 24, 1935 in Wichita, KS to the late Raymond and Dorothy Dymock Luce and passed away on February 17, 2016 in Tyler. She received her B.A. from Friends University and taught elementary school. She also taught at TJC and was a tutor for English as a second language. Mary was a devout Christian who taught Sunday school at Green Acres Baptist Church for many years and loved spreading the word about Jesus. She enjoyed supporting mission organizations and making shoeboxes for Samaritans Purse. She is survived by her loving family: her husband of 56 years, Dr. Donald Gene Moreland of Tyler; sons Doug Moreland and wife Linda of Knoxville, TN, and Grant Moreland and wife Angela of Longview; daughters, Diane Salazar and husband David of Madison, AL, and Beth Moreland of Tyler; a brother, Stan Luce of CO; a sister, Nancy Luce of BC Canada; grandchildren, Steven, Ryan, Alisha, and Siera Salazar, Robert and Marti Ann Moreland, and Shannon Cucksey; great grandchildren, A.J. and Gia Cucksey; and many other loving relatives. She was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Luce. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 Friday, February 19, 2016 at the funeral home.
