Donnie W. Stowers, longtime resident of Kiowa County, passed on February 17, 2016 at her home in Lone Wolf at the age of 90. Donnie was born on December 3, 1925 in Dallas, Texas to Thomas Ezra Davis and Lura Beatrice (Fox) Davis and grew up in the Carter area and attended high school in Carter as well. After her marriage to Jack they continued to live in Carter and other places such as Oklahoma City, El Reno, Bethany and then finally settling in Lone Wolf. To this union were born two children, Jack Jr. and Suzanne. Donnie was an avid animal lover. She raised and trained race horses, and even had a son of Secretariat standing at stud at Jack Stowers Farm in El Reno, Oklahoma, but Donnie’s true love was for her family, loving them immensely.
Donnie is survived by one sister: Charlene Davis Simpson of Carter, grandchildren Linda and Larry McDonald of Dickinson, Texas, great-grandchildren: Evan Stowers McDonald and Emerly Lawrence McDonald, both of Dickinson, Texas one great-great-granddaughter, Gaia Elizabeth McDonald, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Donnie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lura, her brother, Oran Harold Davis “Bud” both children Jack L. Stowers Jr., Suzanne Stowers Smith and her husband Jack.
Visitation for Donnie will be Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 1-5 at People’s Cooperative Funeral Home, with Graveside Services scheduled for Monday, February 22, 2016 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City at 2:30 p.m.
