Richard T. Amptman April 5, 1933 - January 19, 2016 SAN DIEGO Richard T. Amptman passed away on Tuesday, January 19th 2016, in San Diego, CA. He was born on April 5th, 1933 to Irene (Savitz) and Frank Amptman in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Richard achieved two years of college before enlisting into the Navy in 1951 and trained as a corpsman while serving with the 1st Marine Division, fighter squadron 192, during the Korean War. After discharged from the military in 1955, Richard became an electronic engineer and started his new career, which he worked in for over 50 years, until he retiring with the Imed Corporation in 1994.Richard was member of the Portuguese American Social and Civic Club, enjoyed building old radios and riding his motorcycle on Sunday rides.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marjorie; and two brothers, Karl (Patricia) and Robert (Charlotte) Amptman; with several nieces and nephews. Memorial services to be held Wednesday, February 3rd at Saint Agnes Catholic Church (Point Loma), 1140 Evergreen Street, San Diego, CA 92106. Rosary at 9:30 am with Mass to immediately follow at 10:00am. In Richard's memory, contributions to the Portuguese American Social and Civic Club., P.O. Box 6457, San Diego, CA 92106-6457, would greatly be appreciated.
