Charity Elizabeth (Cook) Brady married Hiram Jefferson Brady, Feb. 2, 1834 in Habersham Co. Ga.

Children: Enoch Brady 1836-1861, Thomas C. Brady 1837-1859, Mary Ann Brady Smith Davis, 1841- abt. 1915 , John William Brady 1841-1919, James Polk Brady 1847-1916, Amanda E. Brady Cotton 1849-1934, Nancy Jane Brady Cockran 1853-1927

Hiram and Charity came to Sugar Orchard, Marion County Arkansas in 1873 from Fannin County, GA, after their son James Polk Brady brought his family here in 1872 from Fannin Co. They made their home in the Sugar Orchard area in the Ozark Mountains until their deaths. Hiram and his son James Polk Brady were miners, and they both owned lead and zinc mines in the Pyatt, Sugar Orchard and Zinc areas. Hiram and his three sons that were living during the Civil War all served. Hiram served under Capt. Kincaid's Co. C Battalion State Guard Georgia Calvary. All three of his sons, Enoch, John William, James Polk, served in Company E 2nd Regiment Georgia Infantry. James Polk Brady was 15 years old when he joined to serve. In 1881 Charity was very ill and was taken to the Doctor in Harrison, AR. She died while in Harrison and the family brought her back to Marion County to be buried by her husband Hiram, at the Norton Cemetery. When they got to the ford on Crooked Creek, just below the Norton Cemetery the creek was so high they couldn't get across. The family buried her near by in the Wills Cemetery where she had family and friends. Story was told by many of her children and grandchildren including my dad, her grandson, James Gordon Stanley.
