Elmer L. Schumann, 39, died this morning at 7:30 o'clock at his home, 364 Forest avenue. Death came suddenly while he was starting a fire in the kitchen stove at his home. He had been in poor health for a lone time, however.

Mr. Schumann was born in Oshkosh, April 16, 1895, and had lived in this city all his life. He was employed as bookkeeper for the Baranowskl Art Class company, later the T. C. Esser company, for 21 years.

He served during the World war as a private in the detached motor unit, Section B, medical department and was discharged Dec. 2, 1918, because of disabilities.

Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Joyce, his mother, Mrs. Anna Schumann, Oshkosh; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Josten, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Milton Kirchhoff, Oshkosh; and a brother, George Schumann, who lives in California.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Fiss & Bills funeral home and at 2:30 o'clock at Christ Lutheran church. The Rev. George M. Weng will officiate. Friends may view the remains at the funeral home from Sunday afternoon until the hour of the service. The casket will not be opened at the church.
