Mary Ellen was married to Ernest Herbaugh on September 24, 1949, in Valentine, Nebraska. They lived in Okaton where Ernest worked on the railroad, they had six children.
After the kids were raised , she went to work at a motel in Murdo. She worked at the Kadoka Nursing Home for many years, when her mother was a resident at the home.
Survivors include her five children eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Ernest of April 3, 1991; a son Gary Herbaugh; and two brothers Charlie and Bud Wellman.
