DERRY - Robin Kenney Charnley, 60, of Derry, passed away from complications of pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 11, 1955, in Waltham, Mass., and was a daughter of the late Winston and Cynthia (Redden) Kenney. Robin was raised and educated in Waltham, and has been a resident of Derry since 1979.

A very caring and compassionate person, Robin began her career in nursing in 1977, when she graduated from the Waltham Vocational School of Nursing as a licensed practical nurse and earned an A.S. as a registered nurse at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord in 1993. She was employed as a RN case manager with St. Joseph Hospital for the past four years and had previously been employed with Health Dialogue of Manchester, as well as other medical practices throughout her nursing career. Robin cherished making memories with her close-knit family and her wonderful friends, loved being outside in her gardens, and spending time at her home by the ocean in Nova Scotia. Robin will forever be remembered for living by her mantra: "Live life with an attitude of gratitude." She lived her life with this mantra in the forefront of her mind since being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on Feb. 20, 2015. Over the past year, Robin became involved in fundraising for pancreatic cancer awareness and was determined to bring attention to this form of cancer by being a survivor as well as an educator.

Members of her family include her loving husband of 41 years, Douglas Charnley of Derry; her daughter, Jill S. Charnley of Manchester; two sons, Eric K. Charnley of Allenstown, and David T. Charnley and his fiancée, Lauren Poirier of Norwood, Mass.; a sister and her husband, Luanne and Cliff Shaw of Union, Ohio; as well as several nieces, a nephew, grand nieces and nephews.

services: Calling hours will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St. in Derry. A celebration of her life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the Marc Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research at lustgarten.org. To send a condolence, go to www.peabodyfuneralhome.com.
