He was born in Logan County, Ohio, November 24, 1854. Graduating at the University of Pennsylvania in 1874, he won the degree of mastery of arts two years later, and in 1877 was given his bachelor of laws and began the practice of law in Philadelphia. In 1890 he married Elizabeth Drexel, but she lived only a few months afterward..." --
