He was born in Chadwicks Feb. 23, 1897, a son of Melvin W. and Medora Perkins Brown. On October 7, 1933, he married Julia M. Herbold in Waterville, with the Rev. Fred Miller officiating.
Mr. Brown was retired and had been self-employed throughout his life. He had lived in Lee for 39 years and was a member of the Steuben Masonic Lodge and the Senior Citizens, both at Lee.
He was a member of the Delta Methodist Church.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Melvin C. Brown, of the Town of Lee, three sisters, Mrs. Thilo (Marion) Webb of Syracuse, Mrs. Louis (Mildred) Severson of Rochester, and Mrs. Harry (Dot) Vernold of West Branch, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Griffin and Aldridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Rudd officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Rome Sentinel, March 22, 1973
