SLAB CRUSHES PICHER MINER
Falling Rock at Jarrett Mine Fatal to James Mowry, 56—Picher Items
PICHER, June 13, James D. Mowry, 56 years old, was killed instantly last night when caught beneath a falling slab at the Jarrett mine, two miles northwest of Picher, where he was employed as a machine man. A half hour was required for several workmen to extricate Mowry from the pile of rock and dirt estimated to weigh five or six tons.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Maude Mowry, two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Masters of Picher and Miss Adda Mowry, at home, and a son, Leonard Mowry, also at home. Mowry had lived in Picher 11 years.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the parlors of the Todd Undertaking company.

Mowry Funeral Rites
Funeral Rites for James D. Mowry, 56 years old, East Second street, who was killed Tuesday night in an accident at the Jarrett mine will be conducted at the First Methodist church at 2 o'clock this afternoon. The officiating clergyman will be the Rev. D. W. Brashear. Pallbearers will be fellow employees at the Jarrett mine. Flower girls will include Misses Hyacinthia Nyberg, Billie Marie Kerr, Vera Hood, Edna Osler, Mrs. Mozelle Carlin and Mrs. Bernice Good. Burial will be in the G. A. R. cemetery at Miami under direction of the Todd Undertaking company. In addition to the relatives previously announced surviving are a father, J. F. Mowry of Monrovia, Cal., three brothers, W. F. Mowry of Monrovia, E. C. Mowry of Pasadena, Cal., and Albert L. Mowry of Los Angeles, and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Craveling of Los Angeles.
