Wana P. Hasler, 83, of Newberry, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 5, 2016 at Washington, Indiana. She was born on November 5, 1932 in Daviess County, Indiana to Franklin and Katherine (Allison) Peachee. Wana married John D. Hasler on December 26, 1959.

Wana was a member of the Odon United Methodist Church and the North Stars Homemakers Club of Elnora. She graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and French in 1956 and obtained her Master’s Degree at IU in 1961. Wana taught at Shawneetown, Illinois, and also taught French and English and was a Librarian at Odon School, was Head Librarian at Odon Winklepleck Library for 20 years and had also worked at Purdue University in the Aeronautical Engineering Library before retiring in 1991.

Survivors include: her husband, John D. Hasler; one son, David (Tenna) Hasler of Washington, IN; two daughters, Susie (Rick) Newton of Washington, IN and Paula (Terry) Newcom of Marion, IN; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren and one brother, Don (Carol) Peachee of Washington, IN.

Wana was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Odon Methodist Church with Bro. Richard Smith and Pastor Debbie Payne officiating. Wana will be laid to rest at Scotland Cemetery in Scotland.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 9 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 10 at Meng Family Funeral Home at Odon and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wana Hasler Scholarship Fund of Daviess County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
