Alan Wayne Chittum, 55, of Ruckersville, Va., passed away on February 9, 2016, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on July 25, 1960, to the late Hunter Griffith Chittum and Alice May Montgomery Chittum.

He was employed by Harris Teeter at the Holly Meade Town Center in Charlottesville, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kaye Gibson Chittum; one daughter, Megan Nicole Chittum of Ruckersville, Va.; three sons, Alan "A.J." Chittum Jr. and wife, Christine Carter, Justin Cole Chittum and Kyle Tyler Chittum, all of Ruckersville, Va.; two brothers, Hunter Chittum Jr. and wife, Gloria, of Buena Vista, Va., and Sheldon "Chip" Chittum and wife, Faye, of Roanoke, Va.; two sisters, Betty Bell of Laurel, Md. and Cindy Cameron and husband, Landon, of Glasgow, Va.; two grandchildren, Adaisha Kenzie Kerley and Kameron Phillip Chittum.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison with interment in Madison Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before the service from 1 until 2 p.m.
