Mrs. Catherine Hoover, seventy years old, died suddenly Thursday night at 11:40 o'clock at her home eight and one-half miles south of Huntington in Lancaster Township. She had been in her usual health and took suddenly ill at 11 o'clock Thursday evening and died a few minutes later. Mrs. Hoover was born December 8, 1851, in Lancaster Township, this county, to Henry and Catherine Heaston. She married William H. Hoover, April 25, 1872, and to this union seven children were born. One daughter, Freda Fern, is deceased. The husband died December 13, 1914. Surviving children are Mrs. George Melling of Van Buren, Mrs. A. O. Souers, Mrs. E. M. Shideler, John H. Hoover, and Mrs. L. L. Shutt all of Huntington, and Mrs. Charles F. Shultz of Lancaster Township. Twenty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive, in addition to one brother, J. H. Heaston of Tippecanoe and three sisters, Mrs. Abe Hoover of Rock Creek Township, Mrs. Charles Williams of Marion and Mrs. Aaron Griffith of Van Buren. Mrs. Hoover was a member of the church of the Brethren at Lancaster. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon leaving the residence at 2 o'clock and going to Lancaster for services and burial. The Rev. I. B. Wike and the Rev. H. L. Hartsough will officiate. The singers were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ulrich, Annie Heaston, Vera Minton, Mrs. Oscar Crull, Elmer Shultz, Mark Paul, and Levi Ulrich. Flower girls were Delena Shideler, Ruth Shideler, Mildred Hoover, Gay Shutt, Estalene Henderson and Katherine Shutt. Pallbearers were Henry Hoover, William Shideler, Levi Klepper, Ernest Updike, Isaac Ulrich, Harmon Hoover, Charles Hoover and Newton Sprinkle. Burial was at the cemetery at Lancaster.
