GREENVILLE - Reas, Vaughn DeLee Roberts, 82, passed away peacefully Saturday March 30, 2013 at Lincoln Hills Health Center surrounded by her two loving daughters, Maralind and Michaelle.

Vaughn was born June 4, 1930 in Floyds Knobs, IN, to the late Stuart and Freida Hochstrasser Roberts. She grew up in Floyds Knobs and was taught how to fly by her father and was the youngest female pilot in the Civil Air Patrol. Vaughn was a very personable woman and never met a stranger. She loved traveling, meeting new people, hosting parties and just having a great time with family and friends. She was known as, "The Hostess with The Mostest!" For nearly 30 years Vaughn worked at the Kunz The Dutchman restaurant in Louisville. She started as a hat check girl and worked her way up to becoming the assistant manager. She continued doing part-time work for another 20 years in the restaurant business because of all the people she met and the life-long friendships she made. Vaughn traveled throughout the United States and the World. She visited 48 states and Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Central America, numerous Caribbean islands, China, Cuba, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Trinidad and Venezuela. She believed the best education was traveling and learning about different people and cultures of the World by experiencing them.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Regis Roberts and his wife Elizabeth. Survivors include: children, Michaelle Fisher DVM, Mark Reas, Maralind Hess (Jeff) and Rosalind Metzmeier (Fred); siblings, Elizabeth Ann Lorch, Elaine Bangle (Jay), Stanley Huncilman, and R.K. Huncilman; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; best friends of over 40 years, Dan and Bettye Weber; and her most recent friend and caregiver, Vickie Clark (Tommy).

The family wants to express their heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation for the loving and personal care that the nurses, aides, physical therapists, dining room, laundry/housekeeping, office and the entire staff at Lincoln Hills Health Center provided for Vaughn for over two years. They enabled Vaughn to live her last years with dignity and comfort.

Her wishes were to be cremated. Care entrusted to: Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN.

Contributions in Vaughn's memory may be made to: The Alzheimer's Association , Floyd County Animal Rescue League (812-949-9099) or the New Albany-Floyd County Animal Shelter (812-948-5355).
