MINNIE LEE BENNETT PASSES TO HER REWARD AFTER WEEK'S ILLNESS
The message that brought the news of the passing into the Great Beyond of one of God's noble women, Miss Minnie Lee Bennett, yesterday morning at 6:30 after a week's illness of pneumonia, gave sorrow to many hearts. Endowed by nature with gentle refined and lofty trails, her life was a beautiful character, gentle loving and strong, will linger along in this community in which most of her life was spent.
She was born in Lee county on the Bennett plantation. In her girlhood the family moved to the city, which has been her home since that time. She was descended from a long line of illustrious divines, her great-grandfather being Rev. John Newton, pastor of the first Presbyterian Church in Georgia. She was the daughter of James Mitchell Bennett and Susan Anne Newton-Bennett. She is survived by her sisters, Miss Annie Newton Bennett and Mrs. John Saunders of this city; Miss Sara Bennett, Mrs. James T. Newton and Mrs. Ada Bennett Holt, of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. W. A. Drane of Buena Vista.
The funeral will be held at the residence, 522 Twenty-fourth street at 11 o'clock this morning. per: Lois Goodin Hottinger
