He retired in 1980 from Dover High School as a Boiler Engineer after 42 years of service; he then worked at Memorial Hall as a Watchman, having retired in 1990.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a life member of the Dover VFW and Eagles. He was also a member of the Tuscarawas Amateur Radio Operators Club and he served his country during WW II with the Marine Corps at Iwo Jima.
Born July 5, 1919 in Dover he was a son of the late Earl and Edith Roth Steely. Albert was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Bettie J. Steely who passed away on April 29, 2004 and two brothers, Melvin and Virgil Steely.
Albert is survived by two daughters, Susan (Harry) Butler of Dover and Barbara (Mike) Roadruck of Toledo; two grandchildren, Rebecca Sue (Greg) Marsh of Dover and Betty Ann (Kevin) Cedervall of Minneapolis, Minnesota ; six great grandchildren, Taylor, Ryker, Lucas and Lexus Marsh and Christina and Jonathon Cedervall.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover with Rev. Jim Lewis and Dr. William C. Haggis officiating. Interment will be at the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.
