Thelma Lynn Smeltzer, 68, Kokomo, passed away at 3:32 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born June 11, 1947, in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, and was the daughter of Robert and Louise Parrish. On Dec. 1, 1989, she married Robert Smeltzer, who survives.
Lynn was a 1965 graduate of Randolph High School, Randolph, Massachusetts. She went on to work for General Motors, retiring in June of 2006 after 22 years of service.
Affectionately known as Grams, Mamaw, Grandma Thelma, Grandma Lynn and Little Grandma, Lynn cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed Facebook, which she used to keep in touch with family and friends as well as meeting many new friends. She had an infectious personality and was instantly loved by those who met her. Lynn was filled with love for everyone, expressed her opinions freely, shared everything she had and lived a full life. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Smeltzer; parents, Robert and Louise Parrish; sons, Joseph (Leslie) Connolly and Shawn (Tara) Connolly; daughters, Angela (Brad) Strain and Stephanie (Nathan) Smith; stepdaughter, Sandra (Lonnie) Estep; grandchildren, Justin (Bella) Connolly, Kaleb (Whitney) Skaggs, Alex Skaggs, Quinton (Taylor) Connolly, Noah Connolly, Zachary Connolly, Ian Connolly, Molly Connolly, Haleigh Smith, Anthony Connolly and Jaicie Smith; great-grandchildren, Aaron Skaggs, Adam Skaggs and Henry Estep; sister, Brenda (Harold) Fredericks; and brother, Robert (Margo) Parrish.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Stevens, and grandson, Scott.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Vincent Rehab, "Super Sue" of St. Vincent X-ray and Samantha, Erica, Becky, Goldie, Lisa, James and Takia of Waterford Place Health and Rehab for their loving care.
In keeping with her wishes, Lynn will be cremated with private family services to be held at a later date. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
