MRS. Madge Smith Shaffer, 67, of Williston, S.C., died Sunday at the home of her brother of Barnwell, S.C., after a long illness. She was born in Looneyville, W.Va. and was a retired secretary for Du Pont, Belle, W.Va. She was a member Elko Baptist Church and Sunday school, American Legion Auxiliary, DAV, AARP and Golden Age Club. Surviving: son, Dr. J.S. "Steve' of Netherlands; brother, Romie E. Smith of Barnwell; two grandsons. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Elko Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Bowen and the Rev. Paul Callicutt officiating. Burial will be in Williston Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Folk Funeral Home, Williston.


WILLISTON — Madge, Smith Shaffer died Sunday in Barnwell. Mrs. Shaffer, 67, resided at Route 2. The funeral is planned for tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Elko Baptist Church, Elko, with the Revs. Charlie Bowen and Paul Callicutt officiating. Burial is to be in Williston Cemetery. A native of LooheyviUe, W.Va., Mrs; Shaffer was retired as a secretary from E.I. DuPont Corporation, having worked in the Bell Works Division in West Virginia before transferring to the Savannah River Plant in 1953. She was a
member of Elko Baptist Church and Sunday school. She was a
member of the American Legion Auxiliary, DAY Auxiliary, American Association of Retired Persons and Golden Age Club.
Survivors include a son, Dr. J.S. (Steve) Shaffer, Veldhoven, The Netherlands; a brother, Romie E. Smith, Barnwell; and two grandsons. The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Folk Funeral Home, Williston.
