DINGUS, ABE LESTER Jr. Graveside services for Abe Lester Dingus Jr. will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel by Akard Funeral Home. Bruce Galyon, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Mr. Dingus, 74, of 213 Peoples Road, Bristol, TN, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He lived in the Weaver Community of Sullivan County for over 40 years and was a member of Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a businessman in the Bristol area for 35 years in industrial supply distribution. He was associated with Interstate Hardware and Supply and Remco Supply and was a retired manager from Salem Tools, Bristol Division. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific, and a 50-year member of King Masonic Lodge 461.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Dingus; a son, Dr. Michael L. Dingus of Austin, Texas; four sisters, Dorothy Leonard of Cleveland, TN, Shirley Meade and Carolyn Sue Maggard, both of Nickelsville, VA, and Linda Sexton of Kingsport; four brothers, Donald Dingus of Arlington, TX, Del Dingus of San Luis Obispo, CA, James Dingus of Defiance, OH, and William Dingus of Dandridge, TN.; and several nieces and nephews. Among survivors are a grandson, Eric Dingus of Austin; a daughter-in-law, Betty Dingus of Austin; and a special friend, Chuck Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Martin, Bruce Taylor, Jim Mowrer, Virgil Wimmer, Ron Leonard and Elmer Kirkpatrick. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday in Akard Funeral Home.
