Opal was preceded in death by two husbands, George Armstrong and Johnny Phillips, and one son, Jimmy Armstrong.

Opal Vera Phillips, 95, is home at last with her Lord and her family who went before her. Ms. Phillips passed Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016. Graveside service: Private. Visitation: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, and Saturday, Jan. 30, at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home. To her family, she was "Nanny." She could do anything and was the proverbial "Pied Piper."

Nanny lived 20 years with her parents, 20 years with husband George, 20 years by herself, 20 years with husband Johnny and almost 20 years with Judy and Denny, to whom all her family is most grateful. She was predeceased by her spouses, George Armstrong and John Phillips; and son, Jimmy Armstrong. Family celebrating her life: daughter, Peggy Buttner and spouse, Ed; daughter, Judy Black and spouse, Denny; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
