Mr. Hower was born February 10, 1951 in Holton, the son of Warren Clinton and Mary Margaret Todd Hower. He lived most of his life in Holton. He graduated from Holton High in 1969 and attended Pratt Community College. After college he joined the Army National Guard. In his earlier years he worked power line construction in Texas, Alaska and Libya. He later was a truck driver for many years and mostly worked for Holton Livestock Express. Russell was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. He married Pam Burkett in 1983, they later divorced. Survivors include his wife, Shelly White-Hower of the home; a daughter, Jenna Hower of Duluth, MN; three step-sons, Derek Burkett of Topeka, Jacob Kolbek of the home and Bill Jeffries of Bonner Springs, KS; a step-daughter, Stephanie Lambert of Topeka; his mother, Mary Hower of Holton; two sisters, Linda Allen of Norcrosse, GA, Wanda Tope of Independence, MO; two brothers, Roger Hower of Holton and Dennis Hower of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his father Warren Hower in 1978.

Age 55 years.
