George Washington Painter was born in Westmoreland Co. his parents were Tobias Painter & Elizabeth Lobinger & was married to #1 Mary Ann Miles #2 to Elizabeth Schwartz (Swartzwelder). It is unknown at this time where Mary died & is buried. G.W. & Mary had the following children:

1. Thomas mar. Laura Swartzwelder
2. Henry mar. Margaret (Mary) H. Anderson
3. Mary Elizabeth mar. Solomon Wagner
4. Susan mar. Unknown Tarr
The both Thomas & Henry served in the Civil War & settled in Blair County.

G.W. & Elizabeth had the following Children:
1.Samuel mar. #1 Elizabeth Whitlinger #2 Cynthia Belle McCoy
2. Emma Jane mar. possibly Wayne Wilson
3. Wallace Stewart lived in California mar. #1 Rachel Ann Stockdill #2 Emma Willis (Dewitt) #3 Margaret Sill (information from Janece Carter Streig)
4. Charles was listed on the 1870 census he is 2 years old & 1880 census he is 12 & listed as a grandson living in Boggs Township, Armstrong County, PA. He is not listed with his siblings on his fathers will written in 1892. I have no other information.

In the name of God, amen. I, George W. PAINTER of Boggs Township in the County of Armstrong, farmer, being in good health and of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and declare this to be my will and testament in manner following; that is to say I order that all my just debts, funeral expenses and charges of proving this my will be in the first place fully paid and satisfied and after payment thereof and every part thereof, I give and bequeath all my land, stock, household goods and hereditaments whatsoever unto my dear wife, Elizabeth PAINTER, for and during her life and from and after her decease, I give and devise the same to my son, Samuel S. PAINTER, who is two years after the decease of my wife to pay to the following named heirs (Thomas PAINTER, Henry PAINTER, Susan Tarr/FARR, Mary Elizabeth WAGNER, Stuart PAINTER, Jane WILSON, George PAINTER) ten dollars each without interest. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son, Samuel S. PAINTER of Pine Township, County of Armstrong, executor of this my last will and testament. In Witness whereof, I, the said testator, Geo. W. PAINTER have to this, my last will and testament, set my hand and seal the 29th day of October, A.D. 1892.

Personally appeared S. J. PATTON, one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing Will, who on their solemn oath did say that they were present and did see and hear George W. PAINTER deceased, the testator therein named sign, seal, publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament, and at the doing thereof he was of sound disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of their knowledge and belief. And James PATTON, who being sworn, says he is acquainted with the signature of Geo. W. PAINTER, the testator, heaving frequently seen him write his name, and believe the name of G. W. PAINTER to the foregoing Will is in his own proper hand writing.
