This man's first name was John. This is supported by a "Report of Interment Card" QMC Form 14, Rev. 1 July 1951 for Corp John M. Simpson, 13th Ind. Inf., with the note "typed from old card 5 jan 53" and listing grave/lot #129. He was apparently first buried at the Washington DC Soldiers' Home, and is listed on Burial Register for that place.
John M. Simpson enlisted 19 June 1861 at Kokomo, Indiana, in Co. E, 13th Indiana Infantry. He was born in Indiana about 1839 and died at Washington DC 7 June 1864 of wounds recieved at the battle of Cold Harbor
He died at the Mount Pleasant General Hospital in Washington, D.C.∼ANC Explorer lists 6/7/64 Sec 27 Site # 129
