Husband of Emma B. (McFarland-Rugg), son of William & Lydia (Haney) Barnhart.

Charley was the first person in the family to venture out from SE Ohio. He traveled up to Wrangal, Alaska on Anita Bay during the Gold Rush. Upon returning to Ohio he married the widow of one of his friends in Newark.

Charley died unexpectedly shortly after his marriage from pneumonia. He is buried next to his parents at Greenlawn Cemetery.
