Elizabeth Smith Aamodt, age 88, died May 11, 1995 at the Milford Meadows Nursing Home in Milford, MA, following an illness. She was born May 2, 1907 in Hibbing, MN. She was the daughter of the late John & Ellen (Clemenson) Smith. She was the widow of Loren O. Aamodt who died in 1979. They had been married for 42 years.

Mrs. Aamodt was a resident of Massachusetts since March of 1993 and was formerly of Hibbing and Mpls. From 1975 to 1989 she lived in Clearwater, FL and then returned to MN and resided at Mr. Olivet's Lutheran Home until moving to Massachusetts. She was a member of the First graduating class of the new Hibbing High School in 1925. Mrs. Aamodt then attended Hibbing Jr College and went into the University of MN-St. Paul Campus where she earned a BS and Master Degree in Home Economics. She taught home economics at the high school level in both Mora and Austin, MN. She also worked for General Mills beginning in 1934. In 1947 she was invited to join the teaching staff at the University of MN. In 1950 she was teaching home economics at Edina High School until retirement in 1972. While there, one of her favorite accomplishments was starting the Suburban Minneapolis Home Economics Club. Mrs. Aamodt was appointed by the Governor of MN to serve on the Council of Family Life in the 1960's. She was also a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She had been a member of the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis since 1944.

Mrs. Aamodt is survived by a daughter, Dorothy A. Weirtz of Austin, TX; a son, John R. Aamodt of Franklin, MA; 3 grandchildren, Shannon Weirtz of TX; Corporal Jason Aamodt of Camp Lejeune NC, and Allison Aamodt of Boston, MA; and one step-grandchild, David Riden of CA.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 14 at 12:30 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 600 Central St., at Holliston, MA, the Rev. Jerome J. Janisko, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held in the family lot in Sussex, N.J. Donations in her memory may be made to the Mt. Olivet Home, 5517 Lyndale Ave. S., Mpls., MN 55419.
