Before moving to Greenspring in 2012, he lived in Dale City, Va., for 42 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968 and then worked for the Defense Logistics Agency in Cameron Station, Va., until his retirement in 1983.
He was born in Onaga, Kan. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-45 during World War II and joined the Air Force in 1947. During his career, he served at Strategic Air Command bases in Washington, Kansas, England, Spain, Nebraska, and Maryland.
He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Dale City. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 17 in Topeka, Kan., for 63 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Marjorie J. Ross and second wife Shirley J. Ross. He is survived by three daughters, Stephanie L. Ross of Walnut Creek, Calif., Rebecca J. Albers (Wesley) of Chantilly, and Jennifer S. Bealey (Michael) of Fairfax, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at Good Shepherd, 14999 Birchdale Ave., Woodbridge VA 22193
followed by a funeral service at 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service at Quantico National Cemetery.
