Death of Gertie Marcelius
Died May 8th, '91, Gertie E. Marcellus, daughter of J.E. Marcellus, at home on Badge Creek. The disease was contracted from having the measles. Dr. Doom of Emporia being the physician, pronounced it typhoid fever. The deceased was interred at the cemetery on the farm of H. Tibbs [Tibbals] on Badger Creek. The age was six years and five months. G.W. Parkman of Badger Creek conducted the funeral services, which took place on Saturday, May 9th, at half past 9 o'clock in the home of the parents of [the] deceased.
