Nelson Crisler was the son of Nellie and Benjamin Crisler. He served the Confederacy with the Seventh Regiment of Virginia Infantry during the War between the States. He was Quartermaster to Kemper, Pickett and Terry. After the War he taught school. He also was a merchant, farmer and judge. He was married to Cordelia F. Weaver. Their children were John B., William N., Bascum, Mary Lee, Robert E., Minnie D., Sallie E. and Clyde M.
