ARTHUR ALBERTIS BETTS died 8 Aug 2005 in Glendale at the age of 86.
Jeanette was born on 25 Mar 1919 in Clarence MO, a dau of Sena Frank & Anna Lee Smith Worman. From a young age, she was raised by her stepfather, Victor Leroy Harris.
Art was born on 06 Feb 1919 in Keokuk IA, a son of Charles William & Jessie Viola Henson Betts. On 22 Mar 1939, Art & Jeanette were united in marriage in Keokuk, IA where they made their home for many years.
They moved to Glendale in 1983 & enjoyed their retirement there. Art was a veteran of the United States Army & courageously served his country during WW II. He served with the 147th Infantry Regiment in the PacificTheater, Iwo Jima, Okinawa & New Caldonia. He received his honorable discharge on 10 Apr 1946. Jeanette had been employed at Woolworth's in Keokuk IA & retired in 1975. Art had been an employee of the Union Electric Company in Keokuk for 38 years, retiring in 1975. Art & Jeanette were members of the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk & the Glendale Christian Church in AZ. It was their desire to serve the Lord faithfully wherever they were located. Family was very important to Art & Jeanette. They dearly loved their children & grandchildren & cherished the time they were able to spend with their family. Art loved to play golf & had won many tournaments & trophies both in Iowa & Arizona. He also enjoyed helping his son work on cars. Jeanette loved to read & crochet. Since iving in Glendale, she had become an avid Phoenix Sun fan. In her younger years, she had enjoyed playing golf.

Art & Jeanette are survived by one son, ArthurL Betts & his wife Linda Schevers Betts of Keokuk IA, a dau: Nancy Gibson-Glendale AZ, 3 grandchildren, Cindy Betts Pataky & her husband Robert-Herdon VA, Jeff Betts & his wife Michele-Boisie ID, Deanna Corrigan-Glendale AZ, 8 great-grandchildren & 1 gr-gr-grandchild. Jeanette is also survived by 1 bro: Harold Worman & his wife Dorothy Ruth-RockIsland IL, a half-sister, Janice Carter-FtMadison IA, nieces-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father & step-father, a granddaughter, Gina Lee Ann Leonard & 2 gr-gr-grandchildren. Art is also survived by 3 sisters, Alice Peel & her husband Bill, Joan Hendricks &Jessie Mae Betts-Keokuk IA. He was preceded in death by his mother & father, 2 bros: Louis Betts & Oscar Betts; a sis: Mildred Glasgow, one granddaughter and two gr-gr-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Art and Jeanette was held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, October 6th at the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cem. Military rites were presented in honor of Art's service in the U.S. Army. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
