Carl Ruedolf Thrift, Sr.

Mr. Carl Ruedolf Thrift, Sr., 91 of Blackshear, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, at his residence.

Born in Blackshear, GA on January 26, 1924, he had lived in South Florida for many years before moving back to Blackshear in 1995. He was a retired lobster fisherman and was a US Army veteran having served during World War II. In addition to fishing, Mr. Thrift was an avid hunter.

He was a son of the late Nathaniel Green & Elizabeth Deloach Thrift. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mable Thrift; his daughter, Carolyn L. Prudhomme; a grandchild, James Prudhomme; and all four of his brothers, Robert Eugene Thrift, Loyce Thrift, N. G. Thrift, and James Clifford Thrift.

Survivors include his son, Carl R. Thrift, Jr. of Blackshear; two grandchildren, Denise Prudhomme and Jason Prudhomme; 3 great grandchildren, Devin Bishop, Derek Bishop, and Joshua Bishop; and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

Graveside services for Mr. Thrift will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at 1 o’clock from the Alabaha Cemetery.
