Larene, 88, passed away at home on February 4, 2016. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, at Merle Hay Funeral Home with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Larene Jessie Gilbert, the daughter of James W. and Hazel M. (Smith) Hall, was born May 17, 1927 in Des Moines. She attended OBC Bible College, and taught Sunday School for many years at Calvary Church of the Open Bible. Larene loved her family and caring for them. She was the greatest mother in the world.
Larene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bee; daughter, Sandy; brother, Kelmer Hall; sister, Shirley Hudnall; and one great grandchild.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Judy Kay Gilbert Fitzpatrick, Raymond Bee Gilbert (Julie), Richard D. Gilbert (Rose A.), Barbra (John) Beghtol, Martha Lasher (Craig Brown), Marsan (Alan) Logsdon; 17 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; five great-great-great grandchildren; brothers, William and James Hall; and sister, Darlene Heefner.
