He was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and a graduate of Fairmont State University with a degree in Business and Accounting. Thereafter, obtaining a MBA from West Virginia University.
Robbie was a pitcher for Fairmont State University following a successful high school career where he was named "Outstanding Senior Baseball Player" at FSHS in 1984. Robbie was also an avid softball player, golfer and hunter.
Robbie worked as a commercial lender with BB&T Bank, Huntington Bank, Planters Bank in Winchester, Virginia, and Sovereign Bank in Hagerstown, Maryland. He also worked for Dan Ryan Builders in Martinsburg before working for Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in Charles Town as a Duel Rate Supervisor.
Robbie was affiliated with the Rotary Club and the United Way of Martinsburg, the Knights of Columbus, Big Brother Program, and the Berkeley County Senior Center.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving children Christopher Anthony Abruzzino and Gianna Marie Abruzzino both of Hedgesville; a sister and brother-in-law Debra Abruzzino Coleman and husband Daniel of Naples, Florida. He is also survived by several uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends, and his beloved dog Abbey.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Nanny Rose and Poppy Aniceto Martin Martinez and Frank and Mary Abruzzino, and a dear friend Bobby Beafore.
Robbie was a loving and caring son, brother and a wonderful father who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Friends may call from Noon until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday February 3, 2016 at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Avenue in Fairmont. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church on Maryland Avenue with Fr. Walter Jagela as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
