Frank McCarty Newton was born March 11, 1827 at Dwight [sic Harmony] Mission, Osage Indian Nation, which now is part of southern Missouri, and died Apr 1, 1902, at home in San Antonio, TX surrounded by family. He was a merchant, county tax collector, and county clerk, and son of Rev. Samuel Newton of New Haven, Connecticut, and Mary McCarty of Dover, New Jersey. He married Clarinda Sibert of Shenandoah Co, Virgina on Apr 29 1860 at Port Lavaca, TX and fathered 12 children. He was buried at Alamo Masonic Cemetery with full Masonic honors Apr. 2, 1902.
