Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 30, at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery, Blue Grass, Iowa.
Beverly Jean Birdsall was born January 11, 1926, in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of LaVerne and Margaret (Christiansen) Birdsall. She married Theodore Jacob Brus on May 24, 1952, in Davenport. He died January 3, 1987. She was a homemaker. In her youth, she was employed as a model in Chicago, and at Modern Woodmen of America, Rock Island. After her husband's death, she managed the family farm near Blue Grass. Her memberships included Blue Grass American Legion Auxiliary.
She was former member of Blue Grass Presbyterian Church and Blue Grass Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and a self-taught musician, playing the accordian, violin, guitar and piano. She especially enjoyed Big Band and Dixieland music, working with computer emailing, singing, spending time with family and friends, with whom she shared her delightful sense of humor and was proficient in working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Ken) Haugen of Davenport, and Dr. Debra Brus of Reno, NV; one sister-in-law, Toni Birdsall of Davenport; five nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Neil Birdsall.
