Mamie Lorene May Watson Creed, 92, of Camden, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 29, 2016. Mrs. Creed was born November 29, 1923 in Ellisville, Arkansas, located in Calhoun County.

Mrs. Creed was preceded in death by her parents, William Edgar May and Gladys Hearnsberger May; a stepmother, Nettie Hornaday Rothwell May; husbands, Kenneth Watson (father of her four children), Eugene Dixon, and Paul Creed; two sons, Kenneth Dan Watson and Michael David Watson; one sister, Verna May Hudson, and one brother, William Edward May.

She is survived by her son, Terry Watson and wife, Lavine of Searcy, AR; daughter, Peggy Lisa Watson Ables and husband, Mike of Maumelle, AR. She also leaves behind her daughters-in-law, Patricia Seely Watson and Barbara Watson Waller; two step-sons, Chuck Creed and wife, Belinda of Magnolia, AR, and Kevin Creed and wife, Joyce of Cordell, OK; and a step-daughter, Mary Dixon Bailey and husband, Don of Magnolia, AR. Other survivors include her siblings, Louise Rothwell Orman of Garland, TX; Rex Rothwell of Billings, MT; Charles May of Euless, TX; Doris May Edwards Strickland of Camden; Pat Rothwell of Carsonville, MI; and Diane May McBryde of McKinney, TX; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Lorene and her husband, Kenneth opened their home to foster an additional 30+ newborn babies to teenagers. Two of these being; Bonnie Lindsey House and husband, Ed of Camden, and Leta Kelly Stinnett and husband, Bo of Chidester, AR. These and many, many others loved her as “Mama Watson” or “Grandma” their entire lives.

Mrs. Creed was a member of First Baptist Church of Camden. For over 60 years she was a leader/teacher of Sunday School classes at First Baptist Church and First Assembly of God Church. She also taught a community Bible study class at Victory Church in Camden.

Funeral services for Mrs. Creed will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Camden. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the funeral home
