AYDEN - Mrs. Lottie B. Dawson Oakley, 90, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Farmer Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Franklin Baggett. Burial will follow in Ayden Cemetery. She was born in Vanceboro and lived most of her life in the Ayden area. Mrs. Oakley was the daughter of Adolphus Barrow and Bell White. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack P. Dawson and Denzil Oakley; and two sons, Robert M. Dawson and Jack P. Dawson Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Mary D. Henry, Lottie Jean Dawson of the home and Barbara D. Spitzer and husband, Gerar; three sisters, Ethel Lee Corbett, Katie Stokes and Goldie Chapman; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Her obit did not name her first spouse, a Luther Morris, she married him in 1930, it's not known when they divorce, by 1940 census she was married to James P. Dawson. Lotte did have a child that died as an infant, the death certificate information can be seen below.
